Windows: 12.2 & later, 32 bit Client Installation exits,cmd windows closes. (Doc ID 2657696.1)
APPLIES TO:Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 12.2.0.1 and later
Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)
SYMPTOMS
When Installing 12.2 & later, 32 bit Client on Windows ,it stops after extraction ,cmd window closes & exits .
Also there is no error message.
CAUSE
Insufficient java heap value.
SOLUTION
Update the Java heap space by changing JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS in <12.2 or later,32 bit client Software Stage>\client32\install\oraparam.ini from the default as below:
Take the backup of oraparam.ini
Comment the following line in oraparam.ini:
#JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS=" -Xms150m -Xmx1024m -XX:-OmitStackTraceInFastThrow -XX:CompileCommand=quiet -XX:CompileCommand=exclude,javax/swing/text/GlyphView,getBreakSpot "
And add the following line below it:
JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS=" -mx256m"
Save the file.
Invoke the setup.exe
