Database 11.2.0.4 is in Market Driven Support (MDS) mode from January 1, 2021. Quarterly patch Bundles released from January 2021 are restricted MDS Program patches, as explained in Note 2728619.1. Please see My Oracle Support Note 2285559.1 for listing of latest Database 11.2.0.4 Patch Information.

Database 11.2.0.4 Proactive Patch Information (Doc ID 2285559.1)

This My Oracle Support document lists all the Patch Set Update (PSU) patches and Security Patch Update (SPU) patches released for Database 11.2.0.4.0. Oracle recommends that the latest PSU is deployed to all Database systems.

This document will be updated every time a new PSU/SPU patch is released, which is generally once a quarter. Patches listed since January 20, 2021 are restricted MDS Program patches, as explained in Note 2728619.1. Patches over one year old will need a password to download, as explained in Section 1.4 of Note 888.1.

11.2.0.4 Database Patch Set Update

Each bundle patch includes the Database component fixes packaged in a composite manner. See Note 1376691.1 for more details.

The same Database PSU patch is included in Grid Infrastructure Patch Set Update patches as the Database Component patch.

11.2.0.4 Quarterly Database Patch for Exadata

Each bundle patch includes the following component patches in separate subdirectories:

• Clusterware component the same as GI PSU (OCWPSU)
• ACFS component the same as GI PSU (ACFSPSU)
• A database bundle component that includes all DB PSU fixes along with additional proactive fixes (ExaDBBP)

Please carefully review the README file supplied with the patch.

Patches are cumulative and so each bundle includes fixes from all previous bundle patches for the same Patch Set.

11.2.0.4 Quarterly Database Patch for Windows

11.2.0.4 OJVM Patch Set Update

From CPUOct2014 onwards, Oracle JavaVM Component Database PSU is released for Database versions 11.2.0.4 &, 12.1.0.2 and beyond. This OJVM patch addresses Oracle JavaVM CPU program security vulnerabilities.

For RAC deployments, the Oracle JavaVM Component Database PSU patches cannot be installed in a RAC Rolling manner and requires database downtime to install. For the CPUOct2014 patches, there is an option that provides an interim solution to protect against all currently known Oracle JavaVM security vulnerabilities until such downtime is available to install these patches. Market Driven Support (MDS) 

Oracle Database 11.2 Market Driven Support (MDS) - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) (Doc ID 2728619.1)

Oracle Database 11.2.0.4 left Extended Support on December 31, 2020.  If a customer needs additional time to complete the upgrade to Oracle Database 19c, we are offering 2 years of Severity 1 patching which will include one-offs, PSUs, and Security fixes. 

1. When Extended Support ends for Database 11g Release 2, what support options are available?

   • On Jan 1, 2021, Oracle Database 11.2 will no longer be covered under Extended Support.  Customers will have the option of moving into Sustaining Support which offers no patching or they can pay up to 2 years for Market Driven Support. See the data sheet for more details
     
     

2. What is Market Driven Support?

   • Oracle has setup Market Driven Support to provide extra assistance to those customers still in the process of moving off 11.2.0.4.  This is an Advanced Customer Support (ACS) offering to assist customers in moving to Oracle Database 19c which is the current long-term release. This support offering is limited to Oracle Database 11.2.0.4 and coverage does not extend to new certifications, third-party products, or any Java/JDK functionality including Java components embedded in the database. No updates related to cryptography and network encryption will be supported during this timeframe.  See the data sheet for more details.

3. How does a customer sign up for MDS Support?

   • MDS is a fee based service provided through Advanced Customer Services; therefore, customers should visit: https://www.oracle.com/support/advanced-customer-services/contactus-form.html
     
     

4. How will Oracle Support know that a customer has been purchased Market Driven Support?

   • Each customer who has finalized the MDS paperwork will have Tier 1 entitlement.  Only customers who have signed up for MDS will be allowed to request and download 11.2.0.4 patches created during the MDS window (Jan 1, 2021- Dec 31, 2022).
     
     

5. What type of patches will be created during MDS?

   • During MDS, Oracle will create PSUs and Security fixes if there is new content that meets the criteria.  The PSU will be released around the same quarterly time frame as our Premier Support Oracle Proactive Patches. Please note, these patches are not guaranteed to be released on the same Tuesday as the proactive quarterly patches.  
     
     
   • There will not be a separate SPU for DB 11.2 during MDS period. Security fixes will be included in PSU as needed.
     
     
   • A COMBO patch using prior OJVM patches released for Oct2020 will be created.
