WHO DID WE SURVEY?

Between May and July 2022, Gatepoint Research invited selected executives to

participate in a survey themed Modern Database Strategies.

Candidates from several industries were invited via email and 100 executives have

participated to date.

Management levels represented are all senior decision-makers: 48% hold the title

CxO or are VPs, 32% are directors, and 20% are senior or department managers.

100% of responders participated voluntarily; none were engaged using

telemarketing.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Despite the large size of current database estates and the need for better database

management, many companies are stuck with old solutions and deal with multiple

vendors. Many face uncertainty and hesitancy around open-source solutions, needing

more expertise and knowledge in Postgres to take the leap into expanding estates

into open-source.

This survey asks respondents to report:

• What are your biggest challenges with your current database?

• What percentage of your overall database estate is Postgres?

• What factors are important to you when evaluating new technology solutions?
