1. Characterization of MOFs
Powder X-ray diffraction patterns of MIL-100(Fe) and MIL-88A(Fe) were obtained on a
Siemens D5000 diffractometer using CuKα1,2 radiation (λ=1.5406Å). The pattern was recorded
within the 3 – 40° 2θ range, with a step of 0.02°.

The BET surface areas were calculated from N
2
adsorption-desorption isotherms measured on
Belsorp Mini (Bel, Japan) at liquid nitrogen temperature (77 K). Prior to the analysis, samples
were dried for 6 h at T=150°C under primary vacuum. BET surface was determined at a relative
pressure below 0.25.
